Honors Graduate Published

Caitlin Abell, 2009 Honors College graduate from Bowling Green, KY, recently published an article entitled “Genetic Trends in Simmental Cattle,” in the Fall 2009 issue of national magazine, SimTalk: Linking Sim Genetics to Commercial Cattle. As an undergraduate Honors student, Abell participated in a summer internship at Iowa State University, where she studied genetic trends and conducted research for her Honors Capstone Experience/Thesis project, “The Effect of Breeding Herd Parity Structure on Genetic Improvement of the Sow Herd.” A Mathematics major and Agriculture and Biology double-minor, Abell is currently pursuing her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in animal breeding and genetics at Iowa State University.
