Honors Graduate Published

Caitlin Abell, 2009 Honors College graduate from Bowling Green, KY, recently published an article entitled “Genetic Trends in Simmental Cattle,” in the Fall 2009 issue of national magazine, SimTalk: Linking Sim Genetics to Commercial Cattle. As an undergraduate Honors student, Abell participated in a summer internship at Iowa State University, where she studied genetic trends and conducted research for her Honors Capstone Experience/Thesis project, “The Effect of Breeding Herd Parity Structure on Genetic Improvement of the Sow Herd.” A Mathematics major and Agriculture and Biology double-minor, Abell is currently pursuing her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in animal breeding and genetics at Iowa State University.

Mix-N-Mingle at Lost River Cave

Honors students are invited to dance the night away at Lost River Cave on Friday, September 25th at 8:00pm for the annual Mix-N-Mingle. This year’s theme is Country Western, so all students are encouraged to wear their best cowboy/cowgirl gear! Tickets are on sale in the Honors College Office, Bates Hall, Minton Hall and McLean Hall until Thursday. Tickets will also be available at the door. Single tickets are $7, Couples tickets are $10.  A shuttle bus will be running the night of the dance from Minton Circle to Lost River Cave starting at 7:30pm. We hope to see you all there in your best country dress!
